What is the The Corporate

|
Small motor carriers are, just by the nature of their
business, isolated from the rest of the world. The long hours to plan
and manage a small trucking operation leave very little time to
improve business knowledge and skills. This is all true whether the
motor carrier is a multi-truck operation or a single owner/operator
with one tractor and one trailer.
In today’s trucking world, information is critically
important for the small motor carrier to succeed in a highly
competitive industry. Setting aside the time to go to seminars and
workshops is too costly when the loss of revenue is added into the
total. Even with the introduction of satellite radio, broadband
internet, satellite communications and the cell phone, finding
reliable trucking information has been difficult. The only time these
small trucking company executives can gain knowledge to improve their
trucking operations is on their own schedule and in small nuggets of
time (twenty minutes to an hour) but which may be at odd points in
their day. The solution to this is through a Trucking Business
Community membership and In-Cab Education™ .
Our focus at Write Up The Road is
in providing practical, actionable knowledge and information to the
nation’s trucking and logistics community. We look forward to working
closely with [CORPORATE MEMBER] in providing not just the products and
services small motor carriers require, but the resources they need to
be truly successful in the business of trucking.
We’ve established partnerships with the University of
Tennessee at Martin Regional Entrepreneurship and Economic
Development (REED) Center and Dyersburg State Community College's Tennessee
Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) to design
programs, workshops and classes for drivers and small trucking
companies. This assures every participant that the highest educational
and professional standards are met.
What is In-Cab
Education™ ?
In-Cab Education™ is a means to get information and knowledge to the
small motor carrier executive and owner/operator where he lives and
works---his office or the cab of his truck. I.C.E. and the Trucking
Business Community bring small trucking companies and their drivers a
way to learn while they earn, enabling them to take advantage of
non-productive periods to increase their business knowledge and
skills.
The Corporate Trucking Business Community Membership
In-Cab Education™ Workshops have
been taught – and enthusiastically received – since April of 2006, via
a phone conference bridge which brings audio education right to the
motor carrier executive’s phone or his trucker’s cell phone. And it
doesn’t matter what area of the country in which the trucking company
or truck is currently located. Hosted by Tim Brady, award-winning
trucker and trucking journalist, the I.C.E. Workshops begin with a
white paper report on the course’s topic. Then workshop participants
join a round-table discussion approach to solving that particular
trucking business problem. Anywhere from four to eight workshops are
presented monthly, with each recorded for later broadcast.
The best of these workshops are
edited into 20-minute Knowledge Knuggets™ mp3 audio downloads,
available on our Trucking Business Community membership website.
Listeners gain a quick piece of information to help solve the daily
challenges of the trucking operation.
Other educational presentations
are offered in one to five session courses in an online Audio/Power
Point Classroom format. These courses can be accessed any time, 24/7,
from the Trucking Business Community website. Topics range from
taxes, safety, marketing, customer service, insurance, cash flow
management, and many more. We will constantly be offering courses with
trucking industry and business experts to explain the best practices
within their area of knowledge.

Testimonials:
“I’ve been in this business a lot
of years, and I’m still learning something new every week,” one
owner/operator said, after having been on board for a number of the
workshops. The workshop is taped as it occurs, which puts current,
real-world solutions for problems in each In-Cab Education™ Workshop.
Professional experienced trucking company owners contribute to the
brainstorming and share hands-on answers. J.
Kane—Owner/Operator
“I’m glad our trucking management
trainee has found you. I don’t mind investing in the Trucking Business
Community; I think it can augment our business very nicely. He needed
to hear it from someone who speaks his language. Corporate executives,
like myself, have a different language than a trucker; because of this
I was speaking the wrong language to him. He can really relate to the
trucking side; he’s very talented and bright, but he didn’t understand
the business side of it. This is where we were coming at odds. You
have to understand the business side before you can be a success. He
knows how to drive, how to operate the equipment and get it from point
A to point B, which is extremely important. But in order to make it a
successful company, he’s got to have that business grasp. And that’s
the bridge which you and the Trucking Business Community provide.”—

“Since we started with the
Trucking Business Community the communication part with our drivers
has made a difference. It’s gotten everyone settled. We hired a
dispatcher so I could concentrate on other activities, like finding
customers. But our drivers wouldn’t talk to the new dispatcher;
whether they stubbed a toe, had a flat tire or their load number was
bad, they had to talk to me. Tim and the Trucking Business Community
helped us work through it so the drivers now call our dispatcher. The
Trucking Business Community and Tim have become very valuable to us,
as it has freed me up to grow our business. In the past year we’ve
almost doubled our fleet, when most trucking companies are cutting
back.”—J. Hayes, President—Hayes Concrete and
