Between the (Highway) Lines
Dave Madill is a long-haul trucker
who’s been on the road for over 25 years. An outdoorsman with a love of
nature and former serviceman, most of all he’s a father, grandfather and a
husband. He says himself he’s one of the men who would never be noticed
(except when he drives by in his big rig), but he’s delivered everything
that can fit on a semi-truck and a few things that didn’t. If a road goes
there, Dave’s been there – and he’s been many places where there were no
roads.
Reflections Thru My Windshield
is his first collection of poetry which shows the experiences of someone
who’s seen more places and more miles than most people have ever dreamed
about – he’s walked the slums of our cities and the tops of mountains and
everywhere in between. Dave has held an accident victim in his arms as
that person breathed his last, and twice attended the birth of a child on
the side of a highway. As such he has a different perspective of the world
we live in, and this shows in his writing. Dave is simply a man who writes
what he feels and his smiles and tears come through in his writing to give
his reader a view of life which most people seldom see. His words have the
power of a diesel engine and the touch of an Angel’s wing, causing people
to stop and take another look at the world we live in and the people
around us.
